- Reiki
-
Reiki is the Japanese word for 'universal life force energy'. We all have it; we can all use more. The strength of the method of healing based on Reiki energy lies in its simplicity. When we pass this energy through our hands and into our bodies, we use it to heal ourselves, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, eventually bringing ourselves to a state of emotional and spiritual balance, calm, inner strength, and joy. We can also provide this energy to others so that they can heal themselves. Though extremely simple, Reiki treatments can be surprisingly powerful and effective. Reiki does not only relieve symptoms; Reiki treatments increase relaxation, ease pain, strengthen our immune systems, and heal the root causes of our illnesses.
- How Reiki Works
-
When we receive Reiki attunements, we become able to channel more of this Energy from the Universe into our bodies; it can then flow through our hands into our own bodies and into the bodies of other people and other living beings. When we receive this Energy, we use it for healing that takes place on the subconscious level. Together, balance, inner peace, and improved health allow us to become happier and more beautiful to ourselves and to others and eventually may bring us to a feeing of joyfulness in our lives.
- How can one "get" Reiki?
-
Reiki is passed from teacher to student in the form of Reiki attunements. There are several levels of Reiki practice:
First Degree Reiki (RI):
First Degree Reiki students can help themselves and others to heal by giving hands-on treatments to themselves, their relatives, or close friends (see below).
Second Degree Reiki (RII):
At the second degree level, we learn to use energetic symbols that permit us to increase the intensity of our hands-on treatments, and to send treatments at a distance.
Professional Reiki Practitioner:
Becoming a professional Reiki Practitioner is a more lengthy process during which students must take Second Degree Reiki Training, treat themselves regularly, and practice treating others on a volunteer basis. Continuing to work with a Reiki Master helps students to work through their own problems before they start to work with others.
Reiki Master and Teacher:
Becoming a Reiki Master is not like 'choosing another job'. It is a process of commitment to the Reiki healing path and commitment to passing the ability to work with Reiki to others, usually takes more than a year or even many years.
- A First Degree Traditional Reiki Course
-
- Students are each given four attunements (also called initiations) that enable them to receive the energy and pass it through their hands;
- Explanatory, background, and historical material about Reiki is provided to help the students understand how the method was discovered and developed and how the energy works;
- Giving Reiki to another person requires only that the hands of the Reiki practitioner be on or near the recipient's body. Students learn how to give themselves treatments and how to treat someone who is sitting in a chair or lying down. They practice these skills under supervision.
A first degree Traditional Reiki course takes place over approximately 16 hours. Most often, there are four sessions of four hours each. These sessions can take place on consecutive days, or spaced as much as a week apart, or concentrated into two days (with two sessions each day).
Please contact us for details regarding paying for Reiki courses.
The course includes the following components:
After completing the course, students are encouraged to join weekly Reiki Sharing Meetings at which they share Reiki and continue to discuss their work in Reiki.
First Degree Reiki students can treat and heal themselves, and give Reiki treatments to relatives or close friends. By itself, First Degree Reiki Training is not sufficient to enable students to earn a living as a practitioner. To become a professional Reiki Practitioner, the Reiki student must take Second Degree Reiki Training, take further training, and be certified by the Reiki Master as a professional Reiki practitioner. .
